Why Saying "Yes" To Something New Paid Off in a Big Way
On a random Wednesday morning I get a text from my good friend Risa Kostis (RISTYLE Consulting) explaining that she was styling a blogger Venessa Kaufman of We The Classy and the photographer she had planned on using wasn't going to be able to make it, would I be able to do it? I had never photographed a model before nor was I sure HOW to photograph a model, but I said, "Yes!" I said yes without really even thinking about it, I figured taking pictures of a model is probably like any other client and it would give me the opportunity to TAKE more pictures, which I love to do so why not?!? I had no idea that saying yes to Risa, and overcoming my uncertainty would benefit me a million times over.
Since our first shoot together Venessa and I have gone an many photography adventures around town together and each time I learn something new. I've learned how to shoot a different angle, how to shoot in harsh light, how to find better light, how to direct and pose and I've gotten to flex my creativity muscles. All these opportunities have made me a better photographer for my clients, they've given me a confidence behind the lens that I may not have gotten otherwise. The point I'm making is that sometimes the things that initially make us the most uncomfortable are the things that will ultimately stimulate the most growth and personal and professional development. If a new opportunity gives you butterflies, that's when you say "YES!"
Have a great Friday!
