Confetti Daydreams Feature | Lola + JJ at The Paseo
I have been DYING to share this shoot, it has taken every once of my being not to post pictures from it everywhere!! And not for the reason's you might think...
Let me start by saying that there are very mixed thoughts and opinions among the photography community regarding styled shoots. This post is not meant to make one group feel better or worse about their opinion, but rather to share my own personal reasons for creating them. Or rather for creating this particular one.
It is tiring and stressful to be an entrepreneur, it's easy to lose the reason and inspiration that drew me to my calling as a photographer. Sometimes all of the strategizing, shameless self promotion, self evaluation, doubt and email checking for inquiries that, sometimes, are not coming in gets overwhelming. It can be a very lonely place. I don't mean this to sound bitter, I hope it doesn't, it's just the truth. I love my job despite all this, it is all totally worth it! I have a skill that allows me to capture beauty that lasts forever. Ideally these memories are kept on a wall, in a book or in a keepsake box but even if they're kept on a hard drive in someones desk drawer or closet they're there.
When I think of my ability to do what I do it makes me soar, it makes me happy, it makes all the challenges that come with being an entrepreneur fade away. That is why I created this shoot. I just wanted to make something beautiful, to use my skill to put a smile on someone's face...to put a smile on my face.
This styled wedding shoot at The Paseo was my first, but not my last ( I can't wait to share my second one with you soon!!) I had a vision to bring color and classic elegance to the desert and I am so thankful to the team that surrounded me, lifted me up and lent me their talents. They understood my crazy, sometimes random, all over the place emails. My countless hand gestures as I tried to explain myself and my frequent indecisiveness and glazed expressions. I am so thankful to Lola (What Lola Likes) and JJ Garcia for being so patient while I waited for the sun to be just perfect and golden against the Superstition Mountains. Lola you are absolutely stunning, your grace and elegance sparkle in front of the camera. JJ you are a true gentlemen and it was such an honor to capture your love for your beautiful wife.
Here are some of my favorite images from our Confetti Daydreams' feature, I hope you love them as much as I do!
A special thank you to Storm, the editor at Confetti Daydreams for featuring our little labor of love and creativity. You were amazing to work with and I look forward to working with you again!
